We would like to inform you about an important update from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that may impact your operations. On July 22, 2024, CBP published a general notice in the Federal Register announcing the adjustment of certain customs user fees for the fiscal year 2025. These adjustments are in accordance with the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA).
Effective October 1, 2024, the Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF) will see an increase in both its minimum and maximum thresholds. This adjustment is part of CBP’s routine process to align fees with inflation and ensure the agency can continue providing essential services without disruption.
Key Changes:
- Informal Entry Fee: The informal entry fee will be increased.
- Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF):
- Minimum Fee: The minimum MPF will be increased.
- Maximum Fee: The maximum MPF will also see an upward adjustment.
As our valued customs brokerage clients, it is crucial to consider these adjustments in your financial planning and budgeting processes. The updated fees will apply to entries and import activities starting from October 1, 2024.
